Trina Solar Group's solar tracker manufacturing arm TrinaTracker has started a new plant in Brazil with an annual production capacity of 2.5 GW. The Salvador located facility is the Chinese company's 1st smart tracker production site in Latin America and its 3rd globally.
The company's other 2 tracker production sites are located in China's Changzhou, and Spain's Viana region with a combined 8 GW capacity. With the Brazilian fab now online, TrinaTracker's total manufacturing capacity now expands to exceed 10 GW.
The Brazilian factory will manufacture tracker components and smart control systems, in compliance with the local content requirements of the country. It will also help the company provide better delivery and on-site service in Latin America with its engineering teams based in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico.
"Setting up local production in Brazil allows us to deliver lower costs to local projects, reduce delivery times and provide better service during project construction and O&M periods," said Trina Solar's Tracker Division President Ma Weiming. "Furthermore, with local manufacturing facilities, end users will have access to credit lines from BNDES/BNB to finance their solar projects."
Trina sold 3 GW of trackers globally in H1/2023. Since the beginning of this year, it has sold 1 GW trackers in Brazil alone (see Trina Solar Shipped 27 GW Modules In H1/2023).
