Key Takeaways
  • ČEZ Distribuce grid-connected 9,084 solar PV systems totaling 253.1 MW, mostly paired with storage, in H1 2025

  • Small-scale micro-sources up to 10 kW dominate installations, accounting for 72% or 56.3 MW

  • H1 2025 solar capacity fell by over 21% versus the 321.6 MW the utility added to its grid in H1 2024

ČEZ Distribuce, the largest electricity utility in Czechia, grid-connected 9,084 solar PV systems, representing a combined 253.1 MW capacity. More than 86% of this capacity, or 100.8 MW, was paired with 120 MWh of battery storage.

Most of the new installations – 6,498 in total – with 72% share or 56.3 MW are small-scale micro-sources up to 10 kW at the low-voltage level. Another 1,312 systems with 27.8 MW of installed capacity are up to 100 kW.

The geographical distribution of the H1 2025 capacity shows Ústí nad Labem as the region with the largest share of 52 MW, followed by 47.6 MW in the Central Bohemian region, and 27.8 MW in the Moravian-Silesian region.

Nevertheless, the H1 2025 installed capacity of 253.1 MW was down by over 21% compared to 321.6 MW the utility reported for H1 2024.

At present, the utility counts 142,972 PV systems with a combined 2,798.6 MW connected to its network. This year, ČEZ Distribuce plans to invest CZK 19.2 billion ($934 million) in upgrading and expanding its distribution system, with a focus on connecting renewable energy sources and energy storage devices.

In April 2025, the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade expanded the budget of its C&I subsidy program by an additional CZK 1 billion to encourage investment in solar and storage systems (see Czechia Expands C&I Solar & Storage Subsidy By CZK 1 Billion).
