A special purpose entity (SPE) of Engie and partners, Energia Sustentável do Brasil SA (ESBR), also known as Jirau Energia in Brazil has plans to hold a renewable energy auction on October 20, 2021 for solar and wind energy capacity. Jirau Energia was set up to implement and operate Jirau Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The auction will be divided into 4 lots, 2 of solar and 2 of wind energy. All the capacity awarded will be contracted to supply clean energy between January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2038. Energy generated will be purchased by Jirau Energia under a power purchase agreement (PPA).
To be eligible to participate in the tender, the interested company must be registered with the Brazilian Electric Power Commercialization Chamber (CCEE). It must have a minimum of 100 MW operational capacity in Brazil.
Interested companies have time till October 5, 2021 to get registered with Jirau Energia. Further details are available on its tender website.
