Iberdrola completes maiden Italian project: Spain’s Iberdrola has completed the construction of its 1st solar PV plant in Italy with 23 MW capacity. The Montalto di Castro Solar Farm in Lazio is now in the process of being commissioned and get connected to the grid, stated the company on July 11, 2022. In Italy, Iberdrola says it has 43 facilities under development representing 1.5 GW capacity, and is in the process of signing a development agreement with GreenInvest to develop 17 wind and solar PV facilities for a total of 327 MW.
Italian JV for 300 PV projects: Italian EPC company Solarfields Group and renewable energy firm Innovo Group have announced a joint venture (JV) to co-develop a pipeline of over 300 solar PV projects in Italy. The initial pipeline includes 18 projects under development in Sardinia with 83 MW total capacity, and 2 Sicilian storage plants with 100 MW total capacity. According to law firm Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) that advised Solarfields on the transaction, the JV Innovo SF Srl will be held by Innovo and Solarfields in 51:49 ratio. Solarfields Sette will be the developer of these projects for the JV.
BayWa wins 330 MW+ in UK CfD auction: German renewable energy company BayWa r.e. has claimed over 330 MW onshore wind and solar PV capacity in UK’s recently held Contracts for Difference (CfD) allocation round 4 (see UK’s CfD Round 4 Secures ‘Almost’ 11 GW RE). The company has secured 6 solar projects with 236 MW and 2 onshore wind facilities with 98 MW capacity, to be located in England and Scotland. It has provided details and individual capacities of the facilities on its website.
Concession for 50 MW solar capacity in Bosnia: JP Elektroprivreda BiH, the power utility in Bosnia, has entered a concession for 30 years for 2 solar power plants with 50 MW combined capacity with the Government of Central Bosnia Canton. This capacity is planned to come up on the waste disposal site of Gračanica coal mine in Bugojno municipality. The utility will build Gračanica 1 and 2 projects and operate these for 30 years.
40 MW solar project enters construction in Portugal: Spanish renewable energy company Eiffage Energia has started the construction of a 40 MW solar PV plant in Portugal’s Pinhal Novo region. It is building the Palmela Solar Plant for NextPower III ESG of NextEnergy Capital (NEC). The project will be equipped with 74,124 solar modules and 5×6.5 MVA power transformer centres. It is the company’s 2nd solar project that it is constructing for NEC with the 1st being 17 MW Paderne Solar Farm outside Lisbon.
