PPC Renewables raises €28.5 million from EIB; Technique Solaire's maiden floating PV plant in the Netherlands; EDF Renewables UK gets NatWest as offtaker for 50 MW project; Lightsource bp selling 247 MW in Spain; Cepsa to invest in 400 MW in Spain.

PPC raises finance for PV from EIB: The European Investment Bank (EIB) has committed €28.5 million financing for the renewable energy arm of Greek electricity company Public Power Corporation (PPC), PPC Renewables to support its 230 MW Kozani Solar Project. The financing can go up to a maximum of €35 million over the coming months. One of the largest solar energy projects in Greece, the 3 solar farms that make up the Kozani project, are located in Western Macedonia's Kozani region. The bank's financing will support project construction that's aimed at expanding the use of renewable energy in the country and reduction of fossil fuels in the electricity mix.

Technique Solaire's 1st floating PV plant: French solar developer Technique Solaire will build its 1st floating solar power plant in the Netherlands with 7 MW capacity. It will be installed on a clean water reservoir of the BillyBird Park Drakenrijk that provides fresh water to the swimming lakes, with capacity to generate 6.4 GWh annually. Construction is planned to begin in Spring 2023. It will be the company's 2nd solar park in the country. Technique Solaire's Co-Founder Dick Teunis said it plans to add more floating parks and has several new projects in development.

NatWest signs up for 50 MW solar farm in the UK: Retail and commercial bank NatWest has entered a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) for 49.99 MW solar farm in Anglesey, North Wales with EDF Renewables UK. The latter said it will work with NatWest's existing and future suppliers to incorporate electricity generated by the Porth Wen Solar Farm into their broader portfolio.

Lightsource bp offloads 247 MW PV in Spain: British solar power developer Lightsource bp is to sell its 247 MW operational solar cluster of 5 projects in Spain to independent renewable energy investors Plenium Partners and Bankinter Investment. The projects have been operational since 2021. With this, the developer now frres up capital and resources to 'further progress our gigawatt-scale project development portfolio and the growth of solar required to deliver on national targets'.

Cepsa to invest in 400 MW new solar: Spanish fossil fuel company Cepsa has announced 3 new solar projects in its portfolio in Spain, with a combined 400 MW capacity. Projects will enter construction in 2025 in the municipalities of Arenales de San Gregorio and Campo de Criptana in Castilla La Mancha. More than €280 million investment is estimated for the facilities that will generate around 840 GWh once operational. These expand the company's solar PV portfolio in the region to 1.2 GW.
