Germany-based Enpal has secured up to €65 million in funding by selling its stake in some of its subsidiaries holding the company’s residential solar energy assets. The consortium comprising Equitix, Keppel Infrastructure Trust, MM Capital Partners and Mizuho Leasing has acquired a majority stake in the subsidiaries. The portfolio includes more than 20,000 residential solar systems with a projected generation capacity of 240 MW. Enpal said it will retain a 10% strategic stake, continue operating the portfolio, and remain responsible for customer service, maintenance, and technical operations. The company plans to use the proceeds to support its next phase of growth and platform development.
Earlier, on July 29, 2026, Enpal also completed a €367 million asset-backed securitization with M&G Investments, backed by around 11,500 residential solar and heat pump loans to German homeowners.
Spain-headquartered renewable energy company Zelestra has started full commercial operations at the 57 MW AC Brazatortas I, II, and IV solar plants in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. The projects are contracted under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tesla. Delivered by Zelestra's in-house EPC team, the plants are expected to generate around 130 GWh of renewable electricity annually for Tesla. Zelestra says its Spanish pipeline of solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) totals 6.8 GW. The company also recently signed a separate 140 MW AC PPA with Tesla for the Lumen Farm solar project in Texas (see North America Solar PV News Snippets).
Bulgaria will receive €896 million under a European Commission-approved clean energy funding package to support energy sector reforms and investments. The funding includes support for the installation of nearly 1,400 residential solar thermal water heating systems or rooftop solar PV systems for electricity generation. The funding forms part of more than €1.86 billion approved by the European Commission for clean energy investments across Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, and Slovenia. Provided through the EU's Modernisation Fund and other EU financing mechanisms, the package aims to modernize energy systems, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate the energy transition.
Spain’s Sonnedix has secured €730 million in financing to refinance, optimize and build renewable energy assets across France, Italy, Portugal and Spain. The funding will support around 540 MW of solar PV capacity and two BESS projects, with Italy accounting for more than 350 MW of the total. The company said the financing will also support the integration of battery storage across its portfolio as part of its hybridization strategy. It also provides the company with financial flexibility to advance its development pipeline. Sonnedix arranged the financing from AIB, CACIB, CIBC, ING, Intesa Sanpaolo, Sabadell, Santander CIB, Societe Generale, and UniCredit.
France installed a record 7.4 GW DC/6.1 GW AC of new solar PV capacity in 2025, taking its cumulative installed capacity to about 37.6 GW DC/31.3 GW AC, according to the latest National Survey Report from the IEA PVPS Programme. Solar became the country's largest renewable electricity source by installed capacity, generating 37 TWh and meeting 7.3% of national electricity demand. The Task I report, titled National Survey Report of PV Power Applications in France 2025, also noted lower module and system prices, a slowdown in corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs), and policy changes affecting residential and commercial solar. Earlier this year, France finalized its PPE3 energy plan targeting 48 GW AC of PV by 2030 and 55–80 GW AC by 2035 (see France Lowers Renewable Targets In 2026–2035 Energy Plan).
Helexia has reached financial close on a €20 million tranche of its pan-European solar financing program, backed by La Banque Postale and Bpifrance. The financing covers a portfolio of 73 solar PV projects across France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. It shared that this is part of an over €200 million investment program launched in 2023. The company said the funding will support the continued rollout of distributed solar projects across Europe.
French renewable energy company Qair has secured a building permit for its 50 MW Rudine solar project in Nikšić, Montenegro. The project has already received grid connection approval from Montenegro's transmission system operator CGES, while construction is expected to begin in the coming years. Qair said the project supports its expansion in Montenegro, where it has been active since 2021. The company added that it has a renewable energy pipeline of 250 MW with urban planning and technical approvals, while another 70 MW solar project is progressing toward technical approval. It is also exploring opportunities in battery energy storage and data centers.
