Solar PV manufacturing conference: One of the upcoming destinations for solar PV manufacturing beyond China is India, where companies are gathering support from technologists and scientists to develop an upstream value chain. The idea is not just to establish vertical integration but also to make it a resilient and sustainable one. TaiyangNews is bringing together the country’s leading solar PV players and international experts to discuss the progress of solar PV manufacturing in the Asian country in a 2-day physical event in New Delhi, India, on April 10 and 11, 2025. At the event, RENA Technologies’ Senior R&D Manager Solar & Battery, Dr. Damian Brunner, will talk about sustainable wet chemical solutions for GW-scale TOPCon and SHJ cell manufacturing. Registrations for the TaiyangNews Solar Technology Conference India 2025 are now open here, where you can take a look at the list of speakers and insightful sessions planned.
Endesa sells stake in 446 MW PV in Spain: Italy’s Endesa has sold off a 49.99% equity stake in 4 of its Spanish solar PV assets with a combined 446 MW capacity to Masdar of Abu Dhabi. Masdar is paying €184 million to acquire this stake from Endesa subsidiary Enel Green Power Espana (EGPE). Endesa will offtake energy generated by these projects on completion. Endesa says this sale falls in its partnership model under the Strategic Plan for 2025-2027, which seeks partners in strategic assets to maximize value and return on invested capital while retaining control.
60 MW solar park online in Germany: German renewable energy company Energiekontor AG has commissioned its 60 MW Letschin Solar Park in Germany’s Brandenburg in the district of Märkisch-Oderland. It will generate around 68 GWh annually under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with an unidentified German industrial company. With this, its total self-owned park portfolio has now expanded to around 444 MW, spread over 36 wind and 3 solar parks.
Stake sale in 400 MW portfolio in Spain: Spanish energy company Repsol has sold off a 49% stake in a portfolio of 8 wind and solar farms in Spain to Schroders Greencoat, the specialist renewable energy manager under Schroders Capital. The portfolio, comprising 300 MW of wind and 100 MW of solar power plants, is valued at €580 million. Repsol will continue to control the assets. It is Repsol’s 5th operation of its kind since November 2021 as part of its strategy to optimize the financial structure and project profitability by bringing in partners. This is Schroders Greencoat Europe SCSp Fund’s maiden investment. Recently, Schroders Greencoat surpassed 2 GW in operational ground-mounted solar PV capacity in the UK.
Quanta’s 58 MW Polish contract: R.Power Group subsidiary Quanta Energy has bagged a contract to build 58 MW of solar PV capacity in Poland for multinational automotive manufacturer Stellantis, which owns brands like Jeep, Chrysler, and Peugeot, among others. Quanta will develop this capacity to supply energy to 4 Stellantis production plants in Gliwice, Skoczów, and 2 in Tychy with close to 94,300 solar modules. Quanta shared that as part of the collaboration, the largest carports in Central Europe will also be built with a combined capacity of nearly 7 MW.
BNZ commissions 135 MW in Italy: Spanish independent power producer (IPP) BNZ has started the commercial operations of 135 MW solar PV capacity in Italy’s Lazio region. The 3 PV projects are located in Rinaldone, Camposcala and Mandrione. “The inauguration of our three plants in Lazio is part of our broader journey in Italy, which includes new projects under development and exploring opportunities with innovative technologies. We are targeting 520 MW of new installed capacity by 2026 through a total of nine photovoltaic plants, also located in Sicily and Apulia,” said BNZ CEO Luis Selva. It plans to invest around €600 million in Italy and create 800 jobs by the end of 2030.
German football club goes solar: German professional football club Borussia Dortmund has planned the world’s ‘largest’ PV system on a stadium roof with JA Solar panels. More than 11,000 of JA Solar’s sleek black modules will be installed on the roof of SIGNAL IDUNA Park, a stadium that hosts the highest average number of spectators per match in European football. Installation at the site will begin in summer 2025 and be completed by the end of it. Once fully online, the project will generate over 4 GWh annually for the stadium’s own consumption and help lower its carbon emissions by close to 1,800 tons/year. It could power the floodlights for 1,000 matches/year. All of the modules for this project meet the JA Solar ITS Supply Chain Standard.
AIKO’s utility-scale foray in the Nordics: China-headquartered solar PV manufacturer AIKO has entered a framework agreement with Swedish EPC company Windon for its maiden utility-scale solar project in the Nordics. So far, AIKO has supplied its modules only for the distributed solar market in the region. AIKO will supply Windon with its high-efficiency solar modules for utility projects in 2025-2026.
