Germany’s latest solar auction for rooftop or noise barrier installations, held on June 1, 2026, was undersubscribed even though it attracted higher bid capacity compared to the previous round held on February 1, 2026.
For the June auction, the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) offered 296 MW of capacity and received 125 bids totaling 238 MW. After excluding 17 bids from the auction, it finally selected 108 bids totaling 208.57 MW (see Germany Opens 296 MW Rooftop Solar Tender Round).
In the previous auction round for this category held on February 1, 2026, it received 98 bids totaling 177 MW against a tendered capacity of 283 MW. It eventually awarded 155 MW across 85 bids.
In the June 1, 2026, round, the largest chunk of 49 MW was awarded to projects in North Rhine-Westphalia, followed by 36 MW in Lower Saxony, 22 MW in Baden-Württemberg, 21 MW in Bavaria, and 20 MW in Hesse.
Winning bids ranged from €0.0084/kWh to €0.10/kWh. The average weighted bid rose to €0.0972/kWh in the June auction, up from €0.0956/kWh in the previous round.
The agency plans to launch the next tender for solar installations on rooftops and noise barriers on October 1, 2026.
