As the year 2022 comes to a close, Germany is seeing growing activity in the solar PV space with Bundesnetzagentur reporting 691.27 MW new capacity installed in September 2022, taking the country's 9M/2022 PV deployments to 4.9 GW.
The Federal Network Agency's September 2022 installations are a growth from 555 MW from August 2022, adjusted downward from 561 MW announced previously (see Germany Installed 561 MW New Solar In August 2022). It is also a growth of over 71% from 403 added in September 2021.
New solar capacity in September 2022 includes 420.72 MW that was grid connected outside the country's EEG tender scheme, and ground mounted PV facilities made up 6.34 MW of the total.
In September 2022, the European Commission (EC) approved additional measures for Germany's EEG 2021 which includes an additional tender round for ground mount and rooftop solar with a revised mechanism (see Further EU Backing For German Renewable Energy Act).
Onshore wind power installations in Germany during 9M/2022 totaled 1.65 GW with the addition of 273 MW in September 2022, while offshore capacity was 189 kW.
