Key Takeaways
  • HVR Solar plans to establish a 1.2 GW TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh

  • The project is supported by global technology partnerships the company entered into during SNEC 2026

  • The facility will help India reduce its import dependence, and create local jobs, it stated

Indian solar PV manufacturer and EPC group HVR Solar is venturing into solar cell manufacturing with 1.2 GW annual production capacity. The new factory will be located in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh.

To this end, HVR Solar signed multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with international technology partners at SNEC 2026 in Shanghai.

Among the partners onboard are Shenzhen Han’s Photovoltaic Equipment Co. Ltd. for the supply of manufacturing equipment and machinery for TOPCon cells. Gentech Technology (Huzhou) Co. Ltd. will supply chemical and gas utility systems for cell fab.

Indygreen Technologies is the technology facilitator to ensure integration and deployment of the production line for TOPCon cells that’s known for higher efficiency levels.

The planned facility, said HVR, will support India’s efforts to build a stronger domestic renewable energy supply chain. It will reduce the country’s reliance on imports and enhance local manufacturing capabilities. It will also contribute to local employment generation by creating more than 500 direct jobs across various functions including engineering and machine operations.

However, it does not specify any other details of the proposed project in terms of investment and timeline.

The announcement follows the company's ongoing manufacturing expansion efforts, including the commissioning of a 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Sonipat, Haryana.

Residential, and commercial and industrial (C&I) rooftop segment is HVR’s primary  target segment for its modules. The module fab, it explained, has robotics-enabled manufacturing and is aligned with regulatory requirements, including Approved List of Models and Materials (ALMM).

HVR’s module factory will produce G12 and G12R bifacial modules with both TOPCon and heterojunction (HJT) technologies.
