SunPower Corporation will use IKEA platform to supply its home solar solutions in the US under a partnership, starting with select markets in California, and will be available for the Swedish retailer’s family customer loyalty program members.

SunPower’s home solar solutions that enable homeowners to generate and store their own renewable energy can be bought from IKEA US under Home Solar with IKEA. The CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA US Javier Quiñones said, “The launch of Home Solar with IKEA will allow more people to take greater control of their energy needs, and our goal is to offer the clean energy service at additional IKEA locations in the future.”

The US company offers complete confidence warranty for all its products, including solar panels, racking and monitoring hardware and storage. The idea is to make solar energy easier to access.

“Together with IKEA, we can help introduce the incredible benefits of solar to more people and deliver on our shared value of making a positive impact on the planet,” said SunPower CEO Peter Faricy.

IKEA said its Home Solar with IKEA adds to its efforts become circular and climate positive by 2030. In the US, 90% of its locations are already fitted with rooftop solar arrays, and it has also invested in 2 wind farms, 2 solar farms, 2 geothermal systems, and 7 biogas-fuel cells.

In August 2021, IKEA announced it will sell certified solar and wind energy to residential energy users in Sweden (see IKEA Turning Renewable Energy Supplier In Sweden).
