Avaada Energy signs MoU to build 1 MT green ammonia plant in Rajasthan; Sterling and Wilson wins L1 bidder for NTPC’s 1.57 GW DC project; Tata Motors wants 7.25 MW solar capacity; Shell & Ohmium enter green hydrogen partnership for India & globally; IREDA to provide RE finance to MAHAPREIT.

Avaada Energy’s green ammonia plant in Rajasthan: Avaada Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan government to establish a green ammonia facility and a renewable energy power plant in Kota district. It will have an annual production capacity of 1 million tons (MT) and built for INR 400 billion ($5.0 billion). The agreement was signed with the state’s Department of Industries and Commerce during Investment Rajasthan Summit in New Delhi. It will provide direct employment to about 3,500 people and indirect jobs for over 10,500 more. This agreement follows public and private sectors committing INR 3.05 trillion for over 90 GW renewable energy capacity for Rajasthan in February 2022 (see MoUs & LOIs For 90 GW+ RE In Rajasthan).

Sterling and Wilson wins 1.57 GW DC solar capacity: NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has emerged the L1 bidder for balance of system (BOS) package for NTPC Renewable Energy Limited’s auction process of 1.57 GW DC solar capacity. This package comprises 4 blocks of the proposed solar plant of NTPC at Khavda RE Power Park in Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch. In a stock exchange announcement, the company said the total bid value including operation and maintenance (O&M) for 3 years would be INR 22 billion ($275.6 million).

7.25 MW onsite solar project for Tata Motors: Tata Group’s automotive manufacturer Tata Motors has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power to develop a 7.25 MW onsite solar project at its Jamshedpur commercial vehicle manufacturing facility. It will increase Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur facility’s solar plant capacity to 14 GW to generate 442 million units annually. The project will increase the company’s renewable generation capacity and reduce its CO2 emissions.

Green hydrogen partnership for Shell in India: Shell India has entered a partnership with US based electrolyzer supplier Ohmium International to evaluate hydrogen applications, markets and project opportunities in India and elsewhere in the world. Shell explained that the collaboration is positioned at further elevating its ambition to help build a global hydrogen economy by developing the most competitive opportunities in the production, storage, transport, and delivery of hydrogen to end customers. The duo plan to develop integrated hydrogen hubs, especially targeting heavy-duty transport.

IREDA & MAHAPREIT sign MoU for green projects: The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) will provide financing facilities to Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Ltd. (MAHAPREIT) for renewable energy projects to be implemented for state utilities, local bodies and the infrastructure of renewable energy parks. Under a MoU signed, IREDA will also undertake techno-financial due diligence of renewable energy and energy efficiency and conservation projects for MAHAPREIT. The latter is a wholly owned subsidiary of MPBCDC that’s a joint venture between Indian government and State Government of Maharashtra.
