Shell Energy India commits INR 22 billion for a renewable energy plant; GCLSI to supply 1.1 GW modules to SAEL; MoP guidelines for tariff-based competitive bidding for grid-connected wind-solar hybrid power plants; TPREL to build 9 MW solar plant for Tata Motors; Oriana Power's 20 MW win from BCCL.

Shell's RE plant for Gujarat: Shell Energy India Private Limited will invest INR 35 billion ($424 million) in the state of Gujarat with plans including a renewable energy plant worth INR 22 billion ($266.6 million). Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the state government, the company said it aims to set up the renewable energy plant on 1,200 acres in Banaskantha and bring it online by 2026. It has not, however, revealed the renewable energy technology it plans to deploy. Solar is part of the company's global renewable energy business activities. Remaining investment will be made in fuel retailing electric vehicle (EV) recharging station and in LNG Regasification Terminal, Asset Integrity Rejuvenation and Debottlenecking project.

New guidelines for RE projects: The Ministry of Power (MoP) has issued new guidelines for tariff-based competitive bidding for grid-connected wind-solar hybrid power plants, to facilitate transparency and fairness in procurement processes and ensure standardized framework. These will be applicable to all hybrid projects with a bid capacity of 10 MW and above for projects connected to intra-state transmission system and those with a bid capacity of 50 MW and above for projects connected to inter-state transmission system, provided that the rated power capacity of at least a single source, either wind or solar, is a minimum 33% of the total contracted capacity. These guidelines follow the ones shared for tariff-based competitive bidding for grid-connected solar power projects (see India PV News Snippets).

GCLSI bags India module order: China's GCL System Integration Technology (GCLSI) will supply 1.1 GW n-type high-efficiency solar modules to India project developer SAEL Industries Limited under a framework agreement signed. The Chinese manufacturer called the project one of the biggest solar PV module procurements in the Indian market in recent years. SAEL said it sees GCLSI as a strategic partner for its ambitious plans to install over 2 GW ground mounted PV projects in India annually. The framework agreement was signed between GCLSI's Executive President Zhang Kun and SAEL's Managing Director Jasbir Singh Awla.

Tata Motors to build 9 MW solar plant: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) will set up a 9 MW on-campus solar power plant at Tata Motors' Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand. It will be the largest on-campus solar facility in the state, it added. This ground mounted solar PV plant will be commissioned within 6 months from the power purchase agreement (PPA) execution date. The project will expand Tata Motors' Pantnagar plant's total installed solar capacity to 16 MW, including the 7 MW PV project TPREL built for the company earlier (see India PV News Snippets).

Oriana Power's 20 MW deal: Oriana Power Ltd. has reportedly won a contract to establish a 20 MW solar power plant for Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) in Jharkhand. The project worth INR 1.38 billion ($16.72 million) is to be sited in Dhanbad's Dugdha washery area, according to local media reports.
