Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL) has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) for a turnkey EPC contract awarded by Coal India Limited (CIL). It will develop an 875 MW AC grid-connected solar PV project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The contract, including operations and maintenance (O&M) and taxes, is valued at approximately INR 3,490 crore. The company said the Coal India project win is its maiden contract from the Indian coal producer.
In addition, the company has secured a separate 50 MW AC solar EPC order from a private independent power producer (IPP) in Maharashtra. With these new wins, SWREL says its total EPC order inflows for FY26 have surpassed INR 10,062 crore, exceeding its initial target for the year.
SWREL says it has a total portfolio of more than 26.1 GW of projects commissioned and at various stages of construction. It also manages an O&M portfolio of 10.1 GW solar, including for those constructed by 3rd parties.
Intertek Group plc has acquired the assets of a solar PV testing laboratory in Ahmedabad from Mitsui Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd. This expands the total quality assurance provider’s presence in India’s growing solar market. The newly acquired lab in Gujarat will provide comprehensive ISO 17025-accredited testing and certification services for PV components and systems, with BIS and IECEE CB Scheme accreditations, helping manufacturers access domestic and global markets more efficiently. Intertek says this acquisition strengthens its ATIC and solar assurance capabilities, expands its footprint in western India, and reinforces its position in the global renewable energy quality assurance market. The company sees increasing demand for risk-based quality assurance solutions in India as the country targets 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, including 280 GW of solar.
Nasdaq-listed Indian renewable energy company and solar PV manufacturer ReNew Energy Global Plc has commissioned around 2.4 GW of renewable energy capacity in FY2026, its highest ever in a single year. This takes the group’s total operating portfolio to about 12.6 GW, making it India’s 2nd-largest, it claims. The additions include 1.75 GW of solar, 0.62 GW of wind, and 25 MW/100 MWh of battery storage, with another 450 MW nearing commissioning. The company’s gross capacity now stands at around 20 GW after adjusting for asset sales during the year.
ReNew also shared that its commercial and industrial (C&I) portfolio includes 2.5 GW of committed capacity out of which over 2 GW is already commissioned. The company currently operates 6.5 GW of solar module and 2.5 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity. During FY2026, its solar manufacturing facilities produced over 4.1 GW of modules and 1.86 GW of cells.
Sumant Sinha, the Founder, Chairperson and CEO of ReNew, said, “This milestone underscores the strength of our execution and the resilience and attractiveness of India’s clean energy opportunity despite global macro volatility and geopolitical uncertainty. Rising power demand, cost competitiveness of renewable energy and supportive policy frameworks in India create a long-term compelling growth backdrop and environment.”
Indian solar PV manufacturer Vikram Solar has surpassed 10 GW in cumulative global solar module deployments. The company doubled its installations from 5 GW to 10 GW within 2 years, which it says reflects strong demand and sustained expansion. The 10 GW deployment, equivalent to over 25 million modules, can power more than 5 million Indian homes. While most installations are in India, the company has expanded internationally, with around 1.5 GW exported across 39 countries, it shares.
The milestone comes amid rapid growth in India’s solar sector, which has crossed 150 GW capacity. Vikram Solar says it is supporting India’s solar PV expansion through large-scale manufacturing, with 9.5 GW capacity across facilities in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. It is also undertaking backward integration to scale cell and module production. The company is also diversifying into energy storage, with a planned 5 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) facility by FY27, alongside its lithium battery brand VION (see Global Battery Storage News Snippets).
An Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) subsidiary Adani Renewable Energy Middle East Ltd (AGEL UAE) has entered a joint venture agreement with Minerva Holding RSC. The 2 companies have formed Minerva Renewables Holding RSC Limited. Minerva Holding is a subsidiary of EPointZero Holding RSC which is part of UAE-based International Holding Company PJSC. As part of this agreement, AGEL UAE will acquire up to 20% stake in the JV company. The new entity will develop, construct and operate renewable energy projects in India, according to a stock exchange filing.
SAEL Expands Operational Solar Capacity with 600 MW
SAEL Industries has announced commercial operations of its 600 MW solar power plant in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool. The project was commissioned by its subsidiaries SAEL Solar MHPI and SAEL Solar MHP2. It will feed electricity to the national grid generated by TOPCon bifacial solar panels, which the company manufactured at its in-house facilities in Punjab and Rajasthan. The 600 MW project has a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). With this facility, its total operational capacity now exceeds 2.5 GW.
