This undersubscribed auction saw winning projects ranging from 299.7 kW to 19.5 MW
The next round, the 23rd solar auction of the country, will award 93 MW capacity
Japan has completed its 22nd solar auction round with the selection of 56.44 MW capacity, against 93 MW on offer for utility-scale PV systems, according to the Green Investment Promotion Organization (OCCTO).
It received interest in the form of 28 offers submitted, out of which 23 were selected for the allocated capacity. Winning project capacities range from 299.7 kW to 19.5 MW.
While the ceiling price was fixed at JPY 9.05 ($0.059)/kWh, the weighted average winning bid was JPY 8.17 ($0.053)/kWh. The lowest and the highest winning bids were determined as JPY 7.50 ($0.049)/kWh and JPY 9.04 ($0.059)/kWh.
For the upcoming 23rd Japan solar auction round, which will be the country’s 4th solar auction round in FY2024, Japan will offer 93 MW capacity.
Japan’s previous solar auction, its 21st, was undersubscribed even as winning bids went up (see Japan Allocates Over 33 MW Capacity Under 21st Solar Auction).
