Philadelphia Solar Energy Company, a Jordanian solar PV manufacturer, has successfully mobilized Jordan to launch an anti-dumping investigation into solar PV cells originating or imported from China. These may either be assembled in modules or prepared as panels falling under Jordan’s tariff code 854143000. 

The National Production Protection Bureau, under the country’s Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, issued a formal notification for the inquiry into the country’s ‘official daily newspaper’ to this effect, according to the Chinese Trade Remedies Information Network.

According to the announcement made on April 15, 2025, the period of investigation is from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024, while the injury period to be observed is from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2024.

Interested parties in Jordan were advised to register their response within 10 days from the date of announcement, while overseas stakeholders have 45 days to submit questionnaires. The final ruling is expected within 12 months from the date of announcement. 

Recently, the US announced final determinations in the anti-dumping and countervailing investigation into Chinese solar cells and modules imported from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, proposing steep tariffs (see US Solar Imports From Cambodia Hit Hardest With Final AD/CVD Duties).   

Even India is conducting an anti-dumping investigation into imported solar cells from China.
