Chile to hold energy auction in June 2022: Chile’s National Energy Commission (CNE) has released preliminary bidding conditions for the country’s next renewable energy supply auction 2022/01 to be held in June 2022. It plans to contract 5,250 GWh annually for 15 years, beginning from 2027 through this auction. Later during this month, it will publish detailed bidding guidelines. The auction should be open to national and international power generating companies. “The CNE will carry out the next tender for electricity supply following the objectives of the Government’s policy in terms of decarbonisation, reduction of emissions in the electricity sector, the promotion of non-conventional renewable energies and promoting the participation of Storage Systems,” stated CNE. In September 2021, CNE held an auction to contract 2.31 GWh annually for an average price of $0.02378 per kWh (see Chile’s 2.31 GWh/Year RE Auction Complete).

22 companies for Air-e’s renewables auction: Colombian power distributor Air-e says 22 renewable energy companies are in the process of prequalification for its energy procurement auction. These companies represent more than 2.5 GW from 39 wind and solar projects. This capacity, according to Air-e, will benefit its clients in Atlantico, Magdalena and La Guajira. It represents more than 5 times the initial capacity the company offered to contract. While it does not identify the 22 names, it said Swedish, French, Spanish, Norwegian, Chinese, Mexican, Portuguese as well as Colombian companies are interested in selling renewable energy to Air-e.

EGP starts construction of Colombia’s ‘largest’ solar park: Enel Green Power (EGP) Colombia has installed the 1st solar panel for the ‘largest’ solar park under construction in the country which is planned to have 187 MW DC capacity. The La Loma project is coming up in Cesar department on 437-hectare land with more than 400,000 bifacial solar panels and tracker technology. It plans to mount all modules by April 2022 and on commissioning in H2/2022, these will generate more than 420 GWh annually.
