  • Trina Solar has supplied its 600W Vertex solar modules for 850 MW PV project in Brazil
  • LONGi Solar’s Hi-MO 4 modules have been deployed for a 477 MW utility scale PV project in Bahia, Brazil
  • Chile has given environmental clearance to a 120 MW solar power project of EDF Renewables Chile

600W Trina solar modules for Brazilian 22-parks project: Chinese solar PV manufacturer Trina Solar has identified itself as a major vendor for one of the largest solar projects being built in Brazil with 22 parks. Under phase I, Futura 1 project has 850 MW installed capacity for which Trina Solar will be supplying its 59,292 Vertex bifacial solar modules each with 600W output and 210 mm wafer sized cells. Shipment will leave China in 108 containers in the 2nd week of August 2021. Futura 1 is being developed by Focus Energia in Juazeiro, Bahia in Brazil with an estimated cumulative capacity of 3 GW and will sell all power generated in the free market (see Focus Energia Planning 3 GW Solar Complex In Bahia, Brazil). Trina Solar also revealed that it plans to start taking orders for its 670 W Vertex modules from 2022 onwards.

LONGi modules for 477 MW Brazil project: LONGi Solar has announced it supplied its 1,075,200 high efficiency Hi-MO 4 solar modules exclusively for a 477 MW Sol do Sertao PV Project, calling it the ‘largest’ utility power plant in Brazil’s Bahia state. It was contracted as a module supplier by Essentia Energia for the facility that was officially grid connected on July 19, 2021. Essentia Energia has deployed PV trackers from STI Norland for this facility (see STI Norland’s Trackers For 474 MW Brazil Project).

EDF Renewables’ 120 MW Chile project: EDF Renewables has secured environmental approval from Environmental Assessment Commission and Environmental Assessment Service (SEA) of Chile for a 120 MW solar PV park it plans to build and operate in the country’s Colina district of Metropolitan region. The Peldehue Solar Project will be built by EDG Group’s local subsidiary EDF Renewables Chile with 300,000 solar panels and 100 MWh of energy storage systems. On completion, it will be grid connected. Construction on $120 million project expected to start in Q3/2022.
