Lithuania’s ‘Largest’ Solar Power Station Commissioned

• Nordic Solar has announced the opening of the 100 MW Moletai Solar Plant in Lithuania 
• Enefit of Eesti Energia Group will offtake power from the project that's been generating power from over 150,000 solar panels 
• It is also constructing another 80 MW solar plant in Lithuania and plans a larger project in 2026-27 

Nordic Solar, the Danish solar energy company, has officially inaugurated the commissioning of a 100 MW solar power station in Lithuania calling it the company's as well as the country's largest solar park built to date. 

The 100 MW Moletai Solar Park in the hilly region of Moletai in Eastern Lithuania uses Nordic Solar's proprietary, patented design for bifacial solar panels. It says this solution is designed to increase energy production. 

It has deployed more than 150,000 solar panels. The power generated will be enough to suffice the annual consumption of close to 28,000 European households. It has been grid-connected since April 2024 using the electricity transmission operator Litgrid.   

Green energy solutions company Enefit of the Eesti Energia Group will purchase 100 MW of the electricity generated by the park. Construction on the Moletai facility started in November 2023 (see Nordic Solar Building 100 MW DC Solar Park In Lithuania). 

The CEO of Nordic Solar Nikolaj Holtet Hoff said, "This investment is not the only Nordic Solar investment in Lithuania. We have already started the construction phase for a 80 MWp plant, and we also plan to construct an even larger plant in 2026-27."
