Hanwha to build 150 MW solar plant in Wyoming: Hanwha Q Cells has announced a 150 MW solar power plant in Wyoming, US that it is building under an energy supply contract with an unidentified energy firm. South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency referred to a company statement to report the project will be able to generate around 350 GWh of electricity annually. The company recently announced its solar PV module production expansion plans with a new 1.4 GW facility to be located next to its existing 1.7 GW fab in Georgia, US (see Qcells Picks Georgia For 1.4 GW US Module Fab).
250 MW solar & storage project in Alberta: Canadian energy company Westbridge Energy Corporation has announced a 250 MW AC solar and 100 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Canada’s Alberta. The Dolcy Solar & Battery Storage Project will be located in the Provost municipality where it has secured site control. Currently, it is under stage I of the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) interconnection process with environmental studies underway. Westbridge said it now controls 4 utility scale solar PV development projects with 985 MW combined capacity and 300 MW storage capacity.
108 MW solar plant online in Texas: Texas, US based power generator Vistra says its 108 MW Emerald Grove Solar Facility in Texas has started generating electricity. It was constructed by Mortenson as the EPC service provider using 316,416 modules from First Solar. The Crane County located plant is expected to generate enough electricity for around 54,000 average residences in the country’s ERCOT market during normal grid conditions. Vistra said the project is 3rd of 7 new renewable energy and storage projects it plans to bring online in the state.
Standard Solar’s 7.1 MW community solar plant: Standard Solar has commissioned 7.1 MW community solar project in New York’s York. Developed by SolarPark Energy, the project was funded by Standard Solar that will now own and operate the project. It is designed to generate close to 10,794,000 kWh annually for local residents and businesses. The project is fully subscribed through Catalyst Power that recruits multiple smaller commercial subscribers.
PPA for 11.6 MW AC solar & storage project: Sonoma Clean Power (SCP) has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Luminia for the development of a 11.6 MW AC solar with 32 MWh energy storage capacity Project is scheduled to enter construction in H2/2023. On completion, SCP will dispatch 100% renewable energy generated by the plant to its EverGreen premium service customers throughout Sonoma and Mendocino counties of California.
