The Nama Power and Water Procurement Company of Oman has revealed a list of 9 successful applicants for its 500 MW request for qualification (RFQ) tender for Ibri III Solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) project.
The project is planned to be located alongside Ibri II Solar PV Project in Al Dhahirah Governorate that's been operational since 2022. It was built by a consortium led by ACWA Power (see 500 MW AC Ibri II PV Project Online In Oman).
Out of 12 responses received to its call, the government agency has qualified 9 applicants, conditionally or unconditionally. The shortlisted companies are:
Renamed from Oman Power and Water Procurement Company, Nama Power says these companies will now submit proposals once it finalizes the request for proposals (RFP) round. It had launched the RFQ round for this project in January 2024 (see Oman Soliciting Bids For 500 MW Solar PV Tender).
It is the 4th solar IPP tendered by Nama Power. The agency expects the project to cost OMR 155 million ($403 million) and become operational in Q4/2026.
While 500 MW Ibri II project is generating power since 2022, Manah I and Manah II Solar IPP Projects, both with 500 MW capacity each, are currently under construction. Manah I is being built by KOWEPO, and Manah II by a consortium of Sembcorp Industries and Jinko Power (see Oman Picks KOWEPO For 500 MW Solar Power Plant).
