The Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has released the list of companies it has pre-qualified to submit proposals for two solar PV projects – each with 500 MW to 600 MW capacity. It had launched the request for qualification (RFQ) round inviting global players to express interest in developing Manah Solar I and Manah Solar II projects in July 2019 (see Oman Issues Tenders For Over 1 GW Solar PV).

The agency received 14 submissions from international and local consortiums from 14 different countries, of which nine consortiums were 'either conditionally, or unconditionally qualified'. These pre-qualifiers are from Oman, France, Japan, Portugal, Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE and UK.

The list of pre-qualified applicants who will enter request for proposal (RFP) round, as shared by OPWP is as follows: 

  • Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar (Masdar), UAE & EDF Renewables SA (EDF)
  • ENI S.P.A & SB Energy Holding Limited
  • International Company for Water & Power Projects (ACWA Power)
  • Jinko Power (HK) Company Limited
  • Korea Western Power Company Limited; Hanyang Corporation; Solar Reserve Limited and Nafath Renewable Energy LLC
  • Marubeni Corporation
  • Power Construction Corporation of China Limited
  • TagEnergy SA & Al Al-Shamfari Group
  • Total Solar International

"The implementation of these projects shall follow the successful IPP model established in Oman, using a fair and transparent competition process to award the contracts to two highly qualified private sector companies delivering world class technology solutions," said OPWP in a brief statement.
