SAEL has launched the construction of a INR 8,200 crore integrated solar manufacturing facility in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh
The project will combine 5 GW each of solar cell and module manufacturing on a 200-acre site
The company says the project will create around 20,000 direct and indirect jobs while supporting India's domestic solar supply chain
SAEL Industries has begun construction of its integrated solar PV manufacturing facility in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laying the foundation stone for the 5 GW project.
Developed through SAEL Solar P6, the INR 8,200 crore facility will be built on a 200-acre site in Sector 8 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in Gautam Buddha Nagar.
The project will include 5 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity and 5 GW of solar module production capacity.
According to SAEL, the integrated manufacturing complex will produce high-efficiency solar cells and TOPCon modules to support domestic solar manufacturing capabilities and growing demand for locally made PV products.
It expects the project to generate around 5,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs while boosting industrial activity and supporting regional economic development.
He also reiterated Uttar Pradesh's target of adding 20 GW of renewable energy capacity over the next 2 to 3 years and highlighted the growing adoption of rooftop solar in the state under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.
SAEL said the vertically integrated facility reflects its strategy to strengthen India's solar supply chain and contribute to the country's energy self-reliance by expanding domestic manufacturing.
The company currently operates 3.625 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity. The Jewar project will mark its foray into solar cell production and vertical integration. It announced the Jewar project in July 2025 (see SAEL Industries Plans INR 82 Billion TOPCon Solar Factory).
