• SPIC to invest RMB 7.6 billion to build a renewable energy hybrid power project in China
  • It will comprise 1 GW of solar PV, 300 MW of wind power and 100 MW of energy storage capacity
  • SPIC will develop the project in Yushe county of Shanxi province on barren hills and slopes
  • On completion, the hybrid project will generate RMB 2 billion kWh of clean power on annual basis

China’s state-owned power generation company State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) is to build a hybrid renewable energy project for an investment of RMB 7.3 billion ($1 billion). The hybrid project will comprise 1 GW of solar PV capacity along with 300 MW of wind power and 100 MW of energy storage.

SPIC plans to develop the project in Yushe county of Shanxi province of China on barren hills and slopes, as per local media reports. Once online, the project is expected to supply some 2 billion kWh of clean power annually. It will come from 1.4 billion kWh of photovoltaic power and about 600 million kWh of wind power.

For this massive hybrid project, SPIC anticipates employment generation for about 1,000 people during the production period, the brief news report reads.
