Uzbekistan: List Of Shortlisted Bidders For 600 MW PV Out

• Uzbekistan has released 2 separate lists for pre-qualified bidders for 600 MW solar PV capacity it launched earlier this year under 2 separate tenders
• For the Sherabad Solar PV Project, it has identified 11 companies/consortiums
• For Scaling Solar 2 tender for 2x200 MW capacity, the list comprises 15 names out of which some names also appear for the Sherabad project

The Ministry of Energy in Uzbekistan has come out with a list of pre-qualified bidders for a total of 600 MW solar PV capacity that it issued earlier this year in 2 separate tenders.

For the 200 MW Sherabad Solar PV Project in Surkhandarya region the tender for which was launched in February 2020 when it was gauging interest for the project, the ministry has determined a list of prequalified bidders who will now receive a request for proposals (RFP).

The 11 companies/consortiums are identified as follows:

1. Abu Dhabi's Masdar
2. Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power
3. China's Jinko Power (HK) Co., Ltd.
4. Japan's Marubeni Corporation
5. India's NTPC Ltd.
6. India's ReNew Power Private Ltd.
7. China's Risen Energy led consortium with Tajikistan's JSC "Tojikgidroelectromontaj"
8. South Korea's Samsung C&T Corporation led consortium with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)
9. Norway's Scatec Solar
10. China's TBEA Xinjiang Sunoasis led consortium with
    Thailand's Prime Road Power Public Company Ltd. (Consortium member)
11. France's Total Eren

Earlier in March 2020, the ministry released a list of 54 companies shortlisted for the 200 MW project (see 54 Companies Shortlisted For 200 MW Uzbek Solar Tender).

Another tender the ministry launched in February 2020 under World Bank initiated Scaling Solar 2 project for 400 MW AC PV capacity to be set up in the form of 2×200 MW plants in Samarkand and Jizzakh regions, it has announced a list of 15 prequalified bidders (see 400 MW Solar PV Capacity Tendered In Uzbekistan).

Some of the names prequalified also appear in the above list for 200 MW Sherabad project namely, Masdar, ACWA Power, Jinko Power (Jinko Power Technology & Jinko Power (HK)), KEPCO, Marubeni, ReNew Power, Risen Energy, Scatec Solar, Samsung C&T Corporation, and Total Eren.

Apart from these, the remaining companies having made the cut are Avelar Solar Technology & Green Energy Rus Ltd.; Enel Green Power & Metito Utilities Ltd., Powerchina Resources & Jiangsu Linyang Energy; Sungrow Power Supply & AMEA Power; and Universal Energy & Samruk-Kazyna Invest LLP.

Under Scaling Solar, Uzbekistan is being helped by International Finance Corporation (IFC) to tender 900 MW PV capacity in all, out of which 100 MW was awarded to Masdar for $0.027 per kWh (see Masdar Wins Scaling Solar Uzbekistan Auction).

By 2030, Uzbekistan aims to achieve 5 GW of solar PV capacity out of 11.8 GW renewable energy capacity it is planning under its Strategic Energy Plan for 2020-2030 (see Uzbekistan Confirms 5 GW Solar Target By 2030).
