TOPCon-based, highly automated facility in Tamil Nadu increases Vikram Solar’s total module capacity to 9.5 GW
The factory, incorporating robotics, quality checks, and fully automated packaging, supports M10, G12, and G12R formats
The company targets 17.5 GW module capacity by FY 2027, with integrated cell-module expansion planned in Tamil Nadu
India’s Vikram Solar has expanded its solar PV module manufacturing capacity to 9.5 GW with the commissioning of its new 5 GW factory in Tamil Nadu. Built on advanced TOPCon solar technology, the automated factory is ‘engineered for seamless HJT upgrades’.
Covering 27,000 m² space in Vallam, the new factory is designed to support the rollout of M10, G12, and G12R formats, stated the manufacturer. The manufacturer claims that advanced automation will ensure consistent product quality and reliable solar modules with lower failure rates.
“It incorporates a sophisticated layer of next-generation automation, much of it being deployed in the country for the first time, seamlessly integrating intelligent robotics, advanced material-handling systems, comprehensive built-in quality checks and fully automated packaging,” explains the manufacturer.
The output will be supplied to customers across India, including utility-scale developers, commercial and industrial (C&I) customers, and distributed generation projects.
“As we complete over 20 years in this industry, this facility reflects our intent to shape what comes next: advanced manufacturing, automation-led quality, and technology platforms that become new benchmarks for the sector,” said Vikram Solar Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary.
By FY 2027, it aims to expand its total module capacity to 17.5 GW, while vertical integration is on the cards.
