  • Masdar has won Uzbekistan's Sherabad Solar Auction by offering $0.018 per kWh as the lowest winning bid
  • It beat four other competitors, all of whom quoted over $0.02 per kWh, to win the project
  • Original tendered capacity was only 200 MW, but Masdar has won the right to develop 457 MW capacity

Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy has chosen the lowest bidder for its Sherabad Solar Project auction, Abu Dhabi's Masdar as the winner of the facility. With this, the company has beat 4 other competitors, namely ACWA Power and consortiums led by JinkoPower, Risen Energy and Total Eren (see Masdar Quotes $0.018/kWh For Uzbek PV Project).

According to a report by Reuters, Masdar was adjudged the winner by the ministry for quoting $0.018045 per kWh as the tariff for the project, offering to build 457 MW capacity in Surkhandarya region of the country. All other proposed tariffs were above $0.02 per kWh. The 457 MW project, although originally tendered as 200 MW capacity, is part of a 1 GW solar power capacity development program supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the country's Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.

Now, Masdar has officially claimed all 4 major solar project tenders launched by the Uzbek government, including 3 Scaling Solar tenders with 500 MW aggregate capacity, all for the lowest bid offered (see Masdar Wins Another 400 MW Scaling Solar In Uzbekistan).
