The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has released India's renewable energy bidding calendar for FY 2023-24 with 40 GW solar and 10 GW wind capacity to be issued by various renewable energy implementing agencies (REIA). It includes hybrid round-the-clock projects among others.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and NTPC Ltd get to bid out 15 GW each—comprising12.5 GW solar/hybrid/RTC/others and 2.5 GW wind—during the year (April 2023 to March 2024).
Both NHPC and SJVN have been entrusted with 10 GW target each, including 7.5 GW solar/hybrid/RTC/others and 2.5 GW wind.
According to MNRE instructions, in Q1 (April 2023 to June 2023) and Q2 (July 2023 to September 2023) it wants to release tenders for 15 GW each. Remaining 20 GW will need to be released as 10 GW each for Q3 (October 2023 to December 2023) and Q4 (January 2024 to March 2024).
Starting with 2 GW in April 2023, all the REIAs will release tenders for a cumulative 8.5 GW in the ensuing month, which is the highest monthly target for the entire year.
Bids will be floated in accordance with relevant standard bidding guidelines issued by the government. All the REIAs have to coordinate with each other to avoid concurrent bids.
This guideline forms part of the ministry's earlier communication about launching bids for 50 GW renewable energy capacity annually from FY 2023-24 to FY 2027-28 (see India Releases Bidding Trajectory For RE).
