- ACME Group has appointed Harish Kapoor as the Group President-Corporate Affairs
- Kapoor will report directly to group Founder and Chairman Manoj Kumar Upadhyay
- ACME has a current solar portfolio of over 1.6 GW, and it plans to have 7,500 MW of solar power capacity by 2019
Indian solar power developer ACME Group has brought on board Harish Kapoor as the Group President-Corporate Affairs. Kapoor joins ACME after having worked with the Essar Group, Loop Mobile, Tata Teleservices, Bharti Airtel, among others.
ACME has a current portfolio of over 1.6 GW, and it plans to have 7,500 MW of solar power capacity by 2019. The company has been very successful in the Indian solar space – and very aggressive in project pricing and expansion. Last year most of the projects it won averaged around $0.07 per kWh (see Karnataka 1 GW Tender & More and NTPC Telangana Winners and NTPC Solar Tender Results). This also led to straining of its relations with former partners EDF from France and EREN from Luxembourg (see EDF & ACME Call Off Partnership).
Kapoor will be responsible for further strengthening company’s position in the solar industry. His experience and network are supposed to be a large asset. An official release from ACME stated, “He holds excellent relationship with Corporate Houses and with Central & State Governments both at working and at decision making levels.”
