New Inverter Offering From Ingeteam

• Ingeteam has announced a new central inverter for Europe and North American markets

As storage increasingly becomes important to help renewable energy generating sources deal with their intermittency, companies like Spanish solar inverter Ingeteam are coming out with solutions catering to this segment. It has launched a new central inverter for large scale storage systems, specifically intended for energy storage plants, and certified for both Europe and North American markets.

For Europe, it holds a CE marking and IEC standard and for the North American market it comes with UL 1741 SB standard.

The IS Storage 3Power HV is said to achieve up to 3.93 MVA of battery discharge power, operating at 1500 V DC. Ingeteam says the product is equipped with double liquid cooling circuit that guarantees water tightness and best performance for its electronic components, and power phases.

The Spanish company is supplying the inverter as part of a power station which, apart from the inverters (up to two units), includes the other elements necessary for its medium-voltage use and connection.

It can work in both grid following as a current source, and grid forming mode which is when it works as a voltage source. In the grid forming mode, it can operate in isolation meaning it can generate alternate current network on its own.

Ingeteam says, "This functionality is very interesting and provides greater stability to the network by acting as a virtual synchronous machine that provides synthetic inertia."

The company plans to start delivering initial units of IS Storage 3Power HV for a project in Italy in July 2023.

Management counts to have delivered 25 GW of solar PV capacity with its PV inverters and more than 54 GW of Indar inverters and generators to the wind industry to date.
