CEP Renewables brings online 25.6 MW DC landfill solar project; Ideematec lands strategic partnership with Solar Proponent; Meta signs 200 MW AC solar PPA with DESRI; Brookfield secures Amazon as offtaker for 601.6 MW wind and solar portfolio in North America, Europe and India.
25.6 MW DC landfill solar project: CEP Renewables has announced the commissioning of a 25.6 MW DC solar power plant calling it the largest landfill PV project in North America. Located in Mount Olive, New Jersey, it is owned and will be operated by NJR Clean Energy Ventures on land owned by CEP and leased to the company. CEP said the project has enabled the township to recoup nearly $2.3 million in past taxes and transitioned the former Combe Fill North Landfill Superfund site in a revenue-generating, clean energy asset. CEP said there are over 10,000 closed landfills in the US and transitioning these into solar projects will create economic opportunities for the locals. CS Energy, Terrasmart, and Lindsay Precast were other project partners for the Mount Olive Solar Landfill Project.
Strategic partnership for Ideematec: US based utility scale solar tracker supplier Ideematec has signed an agreement to provide its Horixon L:TEC 1 P trackers to Solar Proponent for the latter’s close to 7 GW Texas projects pipeline. Both the companies are now working with an EPC contractors to finalize delivery schedules for the 1st project, with close to 650 MW capacity in Texas.
Corporate solar PPA for 200 MW AC project: Social media and technology giant Meta has signed an offtake agreement for 200 MW AC Long Lake Project with D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI). The project is planned to be located in Phillips County of Arkansas in the US. This power purchase agreement (PPA) expands DESRI’s clean energy supply association with Meta to over 850 MW AC in the US. It will be owned and operated by DESRI.
Brookfield and Amazon enter partnership: Renewable energy investor Brookfield Asset Management (BAM) will supply 601.6 MW wind and solar power for Amazon’s operations in the North America, Europe and India through its subsidiary Brookfield Renewable. This capacity will generate 1,370 GWh annually. Additionally, BAM has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the preferred cloud provider to modernize its technology infrastructure, optimize operations and boost innovation. BAM said this digitalization will enable it to gain business insights, improve workplace safety and automate hydroelectric, wind and solar operations.
