  • It has also announced installing a new torque tube line at its Pierceton, Indiana plant
  • The company claims to be the only solar fixed-tilt and tracker company that manufactures its own products in the US with US Steel

US based solar trackers and fixed-tilt solutions supplier OMCO Solar has launched a new manufacturing facility in its home country in the state of Indiana. It has also announced a new state-of-the-art torque tube line at its Pierceton, Indiana plant.

It takes the company's total domestic manufacturing capacity across 5 locations using over 500,000 sq. ft. space. OMCO currently produces torque tubes at its fabs in Phoenix, Arizona and Pierceton in Indiana. It also has a manufacturing facility in Alabama and Ohio. All of its products uses 100% US steel, it added.

TaiyangNews reached out to OMCO to know more about the new capacity added by the company, but till this story was published the response was awaited.

At the Pierceton plant, the company also operates a solar PV plant to power its torque tube production with 332.7 MWh.

"Today, thanks to the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act), domestically-sourced material is in high demand and OMCO Solar is well-positioned to capitalize on that while accelerating clean energy adoption," said OMCO President and CEO Gary Schuster.

Management said to date it has invested $60 million in equipment and tooling to expand its manufacturing capacities. OMCO's Director of Business Development Eric Goodwin claims, "We're the only solar fixed-tilt and tracker company that manufactures our own products in the US with US Steel. All of the other major tracker manufacturers currently import torque tubes from foreign countries."

Recently, solar tracker supplier Nextracker also announced a 3 GW fab by MSS Steel Tubes in Tennessee to supply US made steel torque tubes for the company (see More Local Steel For Solar In US).
