At Renewable Energy India Expo 2025 (REI 2025) in Greater Noida, TaiyangNews spoke with Inox Solar’s leadership team about the company’s growth, strategy, and technology roadmap.

Inox Solar, part of the $18 billion INOXGFL Group, has built on the group’s strong presence in renewable energy, especially wind power, shared the company’s CEO, Devesh Sharma. The company operates across manufacturing, project development, and operations & maintenance, managing a large renewable portfolio. Solar has become a key focus for the company as hybrid power plants combining wind, solar, and storage gain importance.

Sharma said that Inox currently operates 3 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and is setting up 2×5 GW solar cell plants in Dhenkanal, Odisha, which will roll out cells with over 25.5% efficiency. It has already secured around 8 GW of orders. Inox Solar expects its upcoming cell manufacturing – expected to become operational between May and June 2026 – to strengthen its position in India’s domestic content requirement (DCR) market, especially as Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) regulations take effect from June 1, 2026 (see India To Impose ALMM For Solar Cells From June 1, 2026).

From a technology perspective, Inox Solar is focusing on TOPCon cell technology while ensuring flexibility to upgrade to future options such as back-contact technology, stated the company’s CTO, Virender Sharma. Its modules are glass-glass designs compatible with larger wafer formats. Sharma highlighted the company’s emphasis on reliability, quality control, and long-term performance.

Beyond TOPCon, Sharma sees back contact as a very promising technology and shared that the company’s production equipment is fully upgradable to back contact technology.

On the business side, Inox Solar has partnered with LONGi to strengthen technology, quality, and reliability, according to Inox Solar’s Chief Business Officer, Rohit Tikku. He added that the collaboration aims to build market trust by combining LONGi’s technical expertise with INOXGFL Group’s financial strength and long-term commitment, supporting solar projects designed to operate reliably over 25 to 30 years.

TaiyangNews is coming back to India with the 2nd edition of the Solar Technology Conference India (STC.I 2026) on February 5 and 6 next year. The event will bring together the who’s who and emerging players in the Indian solar PV manufacturing space. Details are available here.
