As the solar and energy storage industries continue to expand globally, the need for platforms that facilitate business connections, knowledge exchange, and industry collaboration is growing. One day before SNEC 2026 – on June 2, 2026 – TaiyangNews partnered with GNEEC and SNEC to organize the first Solar & Storage Procurement Briefing.China at the Global New Energy Empowerment Center (GNEEC) in Shanghai. GNEEC is a networking and business development platform designed to connect renewable energy stakeholders worldwide.
The event brought together developers, buyers, suppliers, and industry associations. In this interview, Jenny Tong, General Manager of Operations at GNEEC, explains the platform’s objectives, its role in supporting international business opportunities, and how companies can engage with its growing community.
TaiyangNews: Thank you for partnering with us and hosting the TaiyangNews SSPB.C 2026 on the premises of GNEEC. The conference was primarily aimed at creating networking and business opportunities for sellers and buyers in the solar industry, in line with GNEEC’s motto. Can you explain to us what GNEEC is about?
Jenny Tong: Thanks for visiting our booth and for giving us the opportunity to share more about ourselves. GNEEC is a platform designed to create real business opportunities for the renewable energy industry by bringing its capital, people, innovation, and technology together in one place.
TaiyangNews: That’s true, and TaiyangNews SSPB.C 2026 is a successful example of this.
Jenny Tong: It was also our pleasure, and we are happy to be part of such an event. It actually marks GNEEC’s first collaboration with TaiyangNews. Given its timing – one day before SNEC – it actually served as a kick-off event for a massive tradeshow like SNEC. In the end, it was quite a successful event, as reflected in the feedback we received from participating companies.
TaiyangNews: The event was conceptualized only about 6 weeks before it took place, which was pretty late, given that people usually book their flights earlier. Nevertheless, we had a full house and influential stakeholders representing multiple gigawatts of business opportunities and pipeline.
The center is also well located, close to the exhibition, and was well received by everyone. I also had the pleasure of joining an executive dinner later, where basically all leading global national associations, including the Global Solar Council, were represented. So, I think it also served the purpose of this meeting point to bring global influencers together and discuss how the industry should further develop.
Jenny Tong: Yeah, as solar is becoming one of the major leading energy resources, we see an increasing amount of investment in solar, and we see trends of solar plus storage integration this year. So, GNEEC can really be a platform for overseas buyers and suppliers in China to get together and have a real conversation. We aim to facilitate this healthy dialogue, and we are happy that more and more people are joining this community.
TaiyangNews: This also brings me to the final question. Can you provide us with details on how to join GNEEC and how participants can truly benefit from this great opportunity?
Jenny Tong: GNEEC operates on a yearly membership-based model. The members can benefit from our numerous activities, including industry events, closed-door forums, and sessions. We also do brand events and roadshows. Through TaiyangNews, I would like to welcome everyone across the globe to participate. GNEEC is a valuable opportunity for stakeholders across the solar and storage supply and value chain to gain industry insights, including the latest trends, best practices, and more.
TaiyangNews: Wonderful. Please contact Jenny to learn more about GNEEC. From the TaiyangNews side, I can already say that next year, on June 1st, the day before SNEC 2027, we will hold our solar and storage procurement briefing (SSPB.C 2027) again, together with SNEC, at GNEEC. Thanks a lot.
Jenny Tong: Thank you.
