TaiyangNews will end the year 2024 with our flagship High Efficiency Solar Technologies 2024 Virtual Conference where we discuss better and lower cost solar cells and modules with high efficiency solar technologies like TOPCon, HJT, XBC and even tandems. TOPCon part I and HJT will be discussed on December 2 and 3, respectively. On December 10, we will pick up the thread on TOPCon part II, followed by back contact and next generation technologies on December 11. Registrations for the event are already on here!
At the event, Michael Schmela officially announced the launch of TaiyangNews new report titled New Solar Modules Overview 2024 where we review new module products from leading solar shows held in 2024. As with all our reports, this one is also available for free download on our website here!
In a panel discussion with Michael Schmela of TaiyangNews, SMA Solar’s Isabella Caschetto & Enphase Energy’s Alexander Krenek stressed on the importance of policy stability and certainty in the markets, along with the need for cyber security measures to ensure the safety and sustainability of an increasingly digitized energy system of the future.
Enphase Energy is set to transition to Gallium Nitride (GaN) high-voltage transistors and move away from silicon for its microinverters. This will make the future generations much smaller, more efficient and cheaper with lower BOM, said the Policy & Government Affairs Manager of Enphase Energy, Alexander Krenek. He also reflected on the growing use of balcony PV in Europe as bringing in democratization of energy.
Optimizing hybrids!
Talking about the growing presence of hybrid renewable energy power plants, SMA Solar Product Manager Isabella Caschetto called hybrids the solution to the future energy challenges. To unlock success in PV + BESS hybrid projects, she recommends identifying challenges, exploring optimized solutions and learning the essentials of economic success in terms of right sizing, multi-market approach for revenue stacking, and leveraging optimizing software for decision making.
Hopewind’s Utility Technical Support Director Alvaro Zanón discussed the increasing use of digitalization in the space with a focus on the company’s utility PV and ESS solutions. Some of the technological measures it incorporates include the use of intelligent DC switch, DC & AC terminals temperature detection, Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI), Smart Air Cooling, PID Recovery & Anti-PID, Smart I-V Curve Diagnosis, and High-Speed Power Line Communications (HPCI).
The Product Manager of JinkoSolar’s strategic arm JinKO ESS Eathin Xu shared the company’s roadmap for C&I ESS products for various regions globally. Its on-grid C&I ESS solution SunGiga Liquid Cooled Products have 2 main features of reliability and flexibility which it ensures with a 5-layer protection and 3-dimensional safety strategy at cell level, pack level, system level, module level and rack level.
Purchasing Team Leader of BayWa r.e. Frank Mu in his keynote shared the company’s procurement strategies for inverters and BESS, especially for the latter as it is a newer addition for the solar PV systems. Important to cross check if the products deliver as promised by the suppliers by doing one’s own research. The supplier relationship is key. Sticking to a reliable group of suppliers helps too!
TaiyangNews Managing Director Michael Schmela officially opens our 1st Inverters and Battery Storage Virtual Conference, explaining how solar PV can grow intelligently to ensure 24x7 renewable power supply. Pointing at the record levels of negative power prices observed in Europe, with grid congestion being one of the reasons, he said that this negatively impacts the price of solar. Need of the hour then is more electrification, more grid investments, and flexibility to lower energy costs which is where the focus comes to the inverters and battery storage technologies.
Stay tuned for an insightful panel discussion where TaiyangNews Managing Director Michael Schmela will engage in a lively discussion with Enphase Energy’s Policy & Government Affairs Manager Alexander Krenek, and SMA Solar’s Product Manager Isabella Caschetto. They will deliberate on how to really smarten solar systems through inverters, battery storage and digitalization.
Leading manufacturers, analysts and innovators will be in attendance to discuss the latest advancements in inverter technology, battery storage trends, hybrid systems, smart-grid integration, and prosumers. Today’s participants include BayWa r.e., JinKO ESS, Hopewind, SMA Solar, and Enphase Energy.
The brains and mitochondria of solar PV installations, namely inverters and batteries are the focal point of the TaiyangNews Virtual Conference on November 19, 2024. The 1st conference on this subject from TaiyangNews TODAY will delve into the latest advancements for these technologies and their applications. Tune in at 10.00 AM CET.
