Indian renewable energy company Azure Power Global Limited's search for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has ended at Harsh Shah who will join the company with effect from July 1, 2022.
He will replace Ranjit Gupta who along with COO Murali Subramanian quit the company recently, to pursue other interests (see Azure Power's CEO & COO Exit Company).
Shah is coming to the independent power producer (IPP) from India's 1st and largest Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) IndiGrid where he served in a similar role. IndiGrid owns, operates and manages power transmission networks and renewable energy assets.
He also has financial knowledge as he was the chief financial officer (COO) for both IndiGrid as well as Sterlite Power.
"I am happy to join Azure Power at a time when we see an exciting and momentous market opportunity as the industry implements energy transition in India," stated Shah, "We have tremendous runway for growth to increase our operating assets sustainably, thanks to the support of our long-term investors and lenders."
Recently, Azure Power secured expression of interest (EOI) for 1.7 GW solar, wind and hybrid renewable energy assets in Karnataka (see India PV News Snippets).
