Lightsource bp, the British utility scale solar project developer, has expanded the senior management team for its key Asia Pacific markets of Taiwan and South Korea with the appointments of Bin Fu and Jean-Philippe Baudrey, respectively.

Bin Fu has come on board as the company's regional head for Taiwan and will lead its business development activities in this capacity. He has been working in the Asian renewables industry for over a decade now in various senior leadership roles. Fu has mainly been focused on Japan, China and Taiwan.

Lightsource bp has had a presence in Taiwan since May 2022 when it acquired the rights for a 150 MW fishery solar facility with construction scheduled to begin in 2023. With Fu in charge, the developer expects to achieve financial closure for its maiden project in the country this year (see Lightsource BP Expands To East Asian Market).

The company's new Head of Business Development for South Korea region, Baudrey moves to the British firm from a wind joint venture (JV) between EDP Renewables and Engie. At Lightsource bp, he has been tasked with the company's business development and origination activities.

Mainly active in the wind energy space, Baudrey has also worked extensively with the South Korean government offering advice on the renewable portfolio standard, green growth and strategic partnerships across smart grids and nuclear power as well.

Lightsource bp's APAC Managing Director Adam Pegg welcomed the duo saying, "With their extensive experience and track record of success, we are well-positioned to expand our operations, capitalize on growth opportunities, and drive the transition to clean energy in APAC."

Operating as a 50:50 joint venture with oil major bp plc, Lightsource bp targets to develop a 25 GW solar project portfolio by 2025, up from 8.4 GW it counts to have developed to date. It touts a 55 GW global development pipeline (see Lightsource BP Targeting 25 GW Solar By 2025).
