European solar cells and modules maker Meyer Burger Technology AG is going all out to create a momentum for solar PV manufacturing in the region and to support it in its endeavors, the company is bringing renowned solar PV journalist Christoph Podewils as its head of politics and corporate communication.
Podewils was previously working with the Agency for Renewable Energy (AEE) as editor and spokesman. He also worked with Photon Publishing as the deputy editor-in-chief for 6 years, before joining Germany based international energy think tank Agora Energiewende as head of communications and worked there for over 8 years.
For over a year he worked with the Global Solutions Initiative as director communications and spokesperson.
Announcing the news of his appointment on his LinkedIn profile, Podewils said he had started his own business as a communications and strategy consultant after working in similar profiles for over 20 years, but a request from Meyer Burger changed his plans.
"Could I imagine helping to establish a strong solar industry on a GW scale in Europe again? So that we can reduce our almost 100% dependency on China Can reduce photovoltaics? To preserve European sovereignty, protect our climate and secure our energy supply? These are indeed goals that I consider outstanding and that I have repeatedly advocated over the past few years. It was therefore immediately clear to me: This is a unique opportunity – so I grabbed it," Podewils stated as reasons for joining Meyer Burger.
Podewils will start work in his new role from January 1, 2023.
