SolarPower Europe (SPE), the European solar PV lobby association with over 300 members, has refreshed its Baord of Directors with some new appointments and re-appointment of some existing members following elections during its annual assembly in Brussels recently. The board now includes 10 new members.
The newly elected board members are Alexander Zahareiv from Bulgaria's Sunotec, Christian Pho Duc of Switzerland's Smartenergy, Christian Westermeier of Germany's Wacker Chemie, Ozer Ergul of Germany's Aquila Capital and Pia Alina Lange of Trina Solar.
Among those who have been re-elected are José Donoso of Spanish solar PV association UNEF as the chair of the National Association (NA) Committee. He has his Vice-Chair as Nikola Gazdov of Bulgarian association for the production, storage and trading of electricity APSTE.
SPE explained that, "Within the new board structure, the valuable contribution of national solar associations is further formalised, with the Chair and Vice-Chair of SolarPower Europe National Association Committee holding reserved seats." Both the chair and vice-chair seats were voted on within the National Association Committee, affirmed by the General Assembly.
Katharina Eickelberg of Germany's SMA Solar Technology, Martin Hackl of Austria's Fronius International, and Juan Rivier Abbad of Spain's Iberdrola have also confirmed their place in the board with re-election.
The SPE board will continue to be led by Enel Green Power's Aristotelis Chantavas as the president with a mandate to remain in office until 2025/26 (see SolarPower Europe's Board Elects New Members).
"In reflection of the European nature and commitment of the Association, SolarPower Europe members voted to ensure that 80% of SolarPower Europe's membership remains drawn from companies headquartered in Europe. This ratio must also be held at Board level," said SPE.
