US solar tracker manufacturer FTC Solar has announced the appointment of the company’s new president and chief executive officer (CEO) and a board member, with effect from August 19, 2024. Yann Brandt takes over the position left vacant from the departure of Sean Hunkler as announced in 2023.

Hunkler had been promoted as the CEO in 2021 when he took over from Tony Etnyre. The management had announced a leadership transition announcing the departure of CEO Hunkler and CFO Phelps Morris.

Brandt’s appointment follows a robust and competitive search process, according to the board. He moves to FTC from battery energy storage systems (BESS) and software company FlexGen where he was till recently the chief commercial officer (CCO).

The new appointee also worked as the CEO of solar racking company Quick Mount PV previously and also with downstream company Conergy.

“He is an exceptional, strategic leader and industry insider with deep experience and relationships throughout the solar industry. His focus on performance and delivery, with a firm understanding of the opportunities and challenges in the solar market, will serve FTC well as we continue to focus on execution and a healthy recovery,” said FTC Board Chairman Shaker Sadasivam.

In Q4/2023, FTC reported a drop in revenues due to lower product and logistics volumes but guided for sequential growth from Q2/2024. The company will announce its Q2 results on August 8, 2024.

Earlier this year in May 2024, FTC reshaped its top leadership team, including CCO Patrick Cook designated as SVP for Capital Markets and Business Development (see US Tracker Maker Announces Senior Level Leadership Appointments).
