Ivona Kafedjiska has joined Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables as its Director - Global Head of Solar
She will lead global solar research and oversee the firm’s PV research agenda and product portfolio
Her experience spans PV research, technology, policy and energy consulting
Global market intelligence and analytics firm Wood Mackenzie has appointed Ivona Kafedjiska as its new Director - Global Head of Solar for its Power & Renewables division.
Kafedjiska joins Wood Mackenzie from E.ON Inhouse Consulting. She will lead Wood Mackenzie’s global solar research practice, oversee its PV research agenda, and help develop its PV product portfolio.
She said her job will also require her to guide market analysis to help industry stakeholders navigate an increasingly complex and evolving global solar market.
Kafedjiska adds that she will also focus on leveraging the firm’s global proprietary data and strengthening engagement across the global PV ecosystem.
A Master’s thesis student at Fraunhofer ISE, she interned with Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (HZB) to research Polycrystalline Si thin-film solar cells on glass. She later joined HZB full-time as a PV Research Strategy and Policy Consultant. Her work at the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) involved research into tandem and multi-junction PV. At E.ON Inhouse Consulting, she gained experience in energy consulting.
Kafedjiska said, “Looking back, each of these steps taught me something crucial about the energy transition and why photovoltaics sits at its core – from a different angle: technology, policy, industry and capital. The next era of solar will be shaped at the intersection of all four. The decisions made over the next few years will matter enormously and I want to be among the people shaping those decisions.”
She takes over from Michelle Davis, who is taking a sabbatical from work to spend time with family. Davis earlier announced that she will return to work in January 2027 in a new capacity, leading Wood Mackenzie’s solar and storage analysts focused on the US, Canada, and Latin America markets.
