German Engineering Federation VDMA has appointed Jutta Trube as the Managing Director for its PV Production Equipment Chapter. The PV production equipment and materials topic is anchored as a working group in VDMA, one of Germany's leading trade associations. Trube was earlier heading this working group.

She will replace Thilo Brückner who was managing director for one year. Brückner will continue to lead the VDMA Association for Electronics, Micro and Nano Technologies (EMINT) as managing director. The change is effective from January 1, 2017. The former head of VDMA's PV chapter, Florian Wessendorf, after leading the group for over 5 years, left end of 2016 to take a job as managing director of Solar Promotion, the organizer of Intersolar trade fairs and conferences.

Brückner said, "Trube brings a broad technical background and many years of management experience in mechanical engineering (photovoltaics, FPD, semiconductors, microelectronics). From the beginning, she has been actively involved in the interests of German PV equipment construction. In particular, the development of the International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaic (ITRPV), which we took over from SEMI a year ago, has been very successful in the sector."

Out of 3,100 medium-sized machine and plant construction companies as members, VDMA started its PV Production Equipment chapter on March 30, 2010.

"Dr Trube, as Head of the Working Community, has made the competitiveness of the PV visible in the energy mix. We look forward to working together with her as the new Managing Director to strategically develop German photovoltaic engineering," said Peter Fath, Managing Director of RCT Solutions GmbH and Chairman of VDMA's PV Production Equipment Chapter.
