American solar module producer Solaria Corporation has appointed a new President, Vikas Desai. The company's current President Howard Wenger will continue to stay on as a board member and strategic advisor.

Like Wenger, Desai comes to Solaria from SunPower Corporation where he was the senior vice president and general manager for the US company's residential and light commercial (RLC) business. Solaria said Desai founded and scaled this business division to up to $1 billion in annualized revenues. He has also worked with SunEdison and Flextronics.

SunPower recently announced its plans to focus on RLC and may exit the commercial and industrial solutions (CIS) segment (see Blue Raven Acquired By SunPower In US).

At Solaria, Desai will use his experience in residential solar to help accelerate the company's growth and scale. "Vikas has built multiple businesses in both the solar and related technology realms. He brings deep experience and expertise in residential solar, having scaled multiple distributed solar businesses globally," said Solaria CEO Tony Alvarez.

In September 2019, Solaria welcomed ex-SunEdison executives Bang Nguyen as COO and Balaji Thirumalai as company CCO (see US Solar Panel Maker Hires New COO & CCO).
