• ReNew Power has three new appointments in senior management roles
  • Mayank Bansal will look at company’s current and future strategy and be responsible for capital allocation decisions as president, Strategy & Operations
  • New CTO for the company is Varun Sivaram who is tasked with building a culture of technology innovation within ReNew Power and also identify new streams of technology among other responsibilities
  • Stephen O’Rourke, a former Deutsche Bank solar analyst, who also worked as CSO for SunEdison, will drive the company’s business in the United States as managing director for ReNew North America and will be based out of the company’s new international office in San Francisco, California

India’s ReNew Power has announced three appointments for senior leadership roles. One of these new appointees, a former chief strategy officer of SunEdison, will look after the North American market. The company calls these strategic appointments as being in line with the company’s continued focus on strengthening its management team.

As President, Strategy & Operations, Mayank Bansal will be responsible for current and future strategy of the company and take capital allocation decisions. An electrical engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and MBA from Indian School of Business (ISB) Hyderabad, Bansal has 20 years of consulting experience in various industries. He also served as a Partner at AT Kearney and worked with Mckinsey & Co.

Another big hire is Varun Sivaram as chief technology officer whose role will encompass identifying new streams of technology enabled opportunities, integrate new technologies in existing lines and building a culture of technology innovation within the company. He was previously with the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington D.C. and also was senior energy advisor to the Mayor of Los Angeles and the Governor of New York. Sivaram has also authored a book called Taming the Sun: Innovations to Harness Solar Energy and Power the Planet.

Both Bansal and Sivaram will be based out of ReNew Power’s office in Gurugram, Haryana, India.

Stephen O’Rourke will be based out of the company’s new international office in San Francisco, California as ReNew North America’s managing director. He will drive its business in the US market. O’Rourke previously worked with Capitas Energy as the co-founder and managing partner. He was also a from 2010-2015 working for SunEdison, where he held the position as Chief Strategy Officer. He also worked for Applied Materials Inc. and as managing director and solar analyst at Deutsche Bank.
