US based independent power producer (IPP) Silicon Ranch Corporation has elevated Nick de Vries as the company's new chief technology officer (CTO) who once worked with the company as a member of its EPC contracting team.
Vries has been officially working as a Silicon Ranch employee since 2017 and has risen through the years. Till recently, he was the company's SVP Technology & Asset Management. Silicon Ranch credits him with overseeing its initial solar projects, overseen by the company's asset management and operation and maintenance (O&M) team led by Vries.
Management also says Vries is putting in 'meaningful effort' to helping to close the loop on the lifecycle of its solar power plants through project design, construction, operations, decommissioning and sustainable sourcing. At the same time, he works on the Regenerative Energy model of land management under which Silicon Ranch claims to have the 'largest utility scale agrivoltaics portfolio in the US.
A military veteran and previously having worked with solar companies as Phoenix Solar and SolarCity, Vries as the CTO will be expected to 'inform and influence' the technology selection and design of the company's solar projects at Silicon Ranch. He continues to remain in charge of the company's long-term O&M division.
Shell backed Silicon Ranch Co-Founder and CEO Reagan Farr explained, "As such, Nick personifies our unique business model of long-term ownership of our entire portfolio. We are pleased to announce his promotion to CTO and welcome him as an officer of the company."
