Jean-Noël Poirier will become Verde Technologies' CEO on July 8, 2026, to lead its next phase of commercial growth
The company plans to expand its lightweight perovskite solar technology into space and other high-value applications
Co-founder Chad Miller will assume the role of Chief Technology Officer to focus on technology development
Verde Technologies, the US-based thin-film perovskite solar technology company, has appointed Jean-Noël Poirier as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective July 8, 2026, as it forays into the space-power market.
Verde develops ultra-lightweight, flexible perovskite solar panels designed to deliver high power-to-weight performance. It believes the company’s roll-to-roll manufacturing approach has the potential to reduce production costs compared with conventional silicon-based solar technologies.
The company claims to have demonstrated over 24% power conversion efficiency using scalable techniques. It operates a pilot manufacturing line in Waterbury, Vermont.
It views the space industry as an early commercialization opportunity while targeting broader terrestrial solar markets over the longer term.
Poirier will lead the company as it accelerates the commercialization of its thin-film perovskite solar technology and expands into high-value markets, starting with the space sector. Under the new CEO, Verde aims to strengthen its market presence and advance the deployment of its lightweight, flexible solar technology.
Poirier brings experience in solar technology commercialization, corporate leadership, and clean energy investment. His previous roles include senior positions at Honeywell, First Solar, and Global Solar Energy, where he helped drive the growth of cadmium telluride (CdTe) and flexible CIGS solar modules. US-based Global Solar Energy was later acquired by China’s Hanergy.
The incoming CEO has also served as Managing Director at Clean Energy Venture Group and as a venture partner at Meliorate Partners.
Verde’s current CEO and co-founder, Chad Miller, will transition to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), where he will focus on advancing Verde’s technology development and product roadmap.
Poirier’s appointment follows a funding round completed earlier in 2026 that attracted support from both existing and new investors.
