Plum Order For US Solar PV Tracker Maker

• Nextracker has signed a solar tracker supply agreement for 3 GW in the US  
• Leeward Renewable Energy will deploy the same for its projects located in strategic geographies  
• Nextracker says the solar trackers under the deal carry mostly domestic content

Global supplier for solar PV trackers, Nextracker of the US has landed itself a big order, worth 3 GW capacity, from local renewable energy developer Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) for its projects spread across the country.  

Under the Volume Commitment Agreement (VCA) signed, Nextracker will supply its domestically produced TrueCapture and NX Navigator software technologies to LRE over the next 3 years, completing the delivery by 2027.    

LRE plans to deploy the same for its solar projects currently under development and construction across strategic geographies in the country, under a deal that expands their previous cooperation (see North America PV News Snippets). Its current portfolio of wind, solar and storage facilities adds up to 2.7 GW, but touts 20 GW under development over 100 projects.   

Nextracker says the trackers to be supplied under the VCA carry 'mostly domestic content' since much of the steel and electronics used are manufactured in factories commissioned by the company over the last 2 years. It will supply finished steel product from its recently commissioned domestic steel manufacturing locations in Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas as part of the agreement (see More Local Steel For Solar In US).  

The 3 GW LRE deal will expand the tracker producer's backlog that until recently had scaled up to over $3 billion (see Nextracker's Backlog Grows To Over $3 Billion).
