MELBOURNE — JA unveiled its new HyperGen Pro module series at All Energy Australia 2026, held on 28–29 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). At Booth H135, the company showcased HyperGen Pro alongside its DeepBlue 5.0 n-type TOPCon modules and the JA ESS 125 kW / 261 kWh liquid-cooled commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage system. The exhibition marked the Australian debut of both HyperGen Pro and the JA ESS system.

A Long-Standing Commitment to Australia

JA established its Australian subsidiary in 2013, becoming one of the earlier Chinese PV companies to enter the market. Over the years, the company has developed a dedicated local sales and technical support team and jointly established a photovoltaic R&D laboratory with the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Through sustained investment in local capabilities and partnerships, JA has built a strong presence in the Australian solar market.

At All Energy Australia 2026, JA received SunWiz’s “#1 Win Rate — Panel Proposal to Sale” award and was also recognised as a Top Solar Company.

Australia is not only a mature solar market with demanding performance requirements but also an important proving ground for technologies designed to withstand diverse operating conditions. High solar irradiance, extensive rooftop installations, frequent hailstorms and significant temperature variations all place particular demands on PV modules. These conditions helped shape the development of HyperGen Pro, which made its Australian debut at the exhibition.

HyperGen Pro: Engineered for Australian Conditions

Designed with the Australian market in mind, JA Solar’s HyperGen Pro adopts a 1,762 mm module format. The white variant delivers up to 510 W of power output at a maximum efficiency of 25.5%, while the all-black variant offers up to 505 W at 25.3% efficiency.

Built on a back-contact cell architecture, HyperGen Pro places all electrodes on the rear of the cells, eliminating front-side grid lines. Combined with zero-busbar (0BB) interconnection technology and a full-screen design, this configuration maximises the light-receiving area while delivering a clean, uniform appearance, particularly in the all-black variant.

Beyond efficiency and aesthetics, HyperGen Pro incorporates a range of features tailored to Australia’s rooftop installations and challenging environmental conditions:

· Lightweight single-glass design: Weighing 12–14% less than comparable dual-glass modules of the same format, the design reduces structural loads on rooftops while improving heat dissipation and enabling single-person handling. This is particularly valuable for commercial and industrial buildings with limited roof load capacity.

· Enhanced hail resistance: With an HW4 hail-resistance rating and certification to withstand hailstones up to 40 mm in diameter, HyperGen Pro addresses a key reliability concern in hail-prone regions such as Victoria, New South Wales and south-east Queensland.

· Anti-glare surface treatment: A chemically etched, micro-textured glass surface converts specular reflection into diffuse reflection, reducing glare at the source. This helps address reflected-light concerns in densely populated residential areas.

· High-temperature performance and low degradation: A power temperature coefficient of −0.26%/°C helps limit output losses in hot conditions. Combined with first-year degradation of 1% and annual linear degradation of 0.35% thereafter, the module is designed to maintain reliable performance over its operating life.

· Shading tolerance and hot-spot resistance: A bypass design enabled by the cell architecture responds to partial shading, helping limit power losses and reduce hot-spot temperatures. This provides additional protection against common rooftop shading sources, including trees, chimneys and bird droppings.

The name “HyperGen” combines “Hyper”, suggesting performance beyond conventional limits, with “Generation”. Rather than representing a departure from JA Solar’s existing technology platform, the series builds on successive generations of back-contact cell research and development, reflecting the continued maturation of the technology.

DeepBlue 5.0: Performance Across Residential, C&I and Utility-Scale Applications

Alongside HyperGen Pro, JA also showcased its DeepBlue 5.0 n-type TOPCon series, extending its module offering across residential rooftops, commercial and industrial installations, and utility-scale projects.

For residential applications, the 485 W JAM48D51 LR all-black module combines Tri-Cut cell architecture with Bycium+ 5.0 cell technology and 20-busbar (20BB) current collection, delivering a 0.25% improvement in low-light output.

For larger commercial, industrial and ground-mounted installations, JA presented the 550 W JAM54D50 GR and 670 W JAM66D50 GB modules. The 670 W model offers a bifaciality of 85% ± 5%, a power temperature coefficient of −0.26%/°C, and a degradation rate of 1% in the first year, followed by 0.35% annually thereafter.

Together, the DeepBlue 5.0 portfolio and HyperGen Pro provide Australian customers with a broader choice of module technologies, power ratings and configurations to meet different installation requirements and project economics.

JA ESS: 125 kW / 261 kWh Liquid-Cooled C&I Energy Storage

Complementing its PV portfolio, JA also introduced the JA ESS 125 kW / 261 kWh liquid-cooled energy storage system to the Australian market. Developed for commercial and industrial applications, the system combines multiple safety measures, energy efficiency and intelligent operation and maintenance (O&M) capabilities.

Safety is supported by millisecond-level insulation monitoring, a three-tier fire and explosion protection architecture, and real-time battery pack monitoring. Working together, these measures enable early detection of potential thermal runaway risks and provide multiple layers of protection throughout system operation.

The system uses long-life lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and achieves round-trip efficiency of up to 88%. Its liquid-cooling design also reduces auxiliary power consumption by 10%, helping improve overall system efficiency and long-term project economics.

For ongoing operations, built-in AI-powered predictive maintenance is designed to minimise unplanned downtime and simplify fault management. According to JA, these capabilities can reduce downtime by up to 90% and enable more than 90% of system faults to be resolved remotely. A modular design further simplifies on-site inspection and component replacement, helping reduce maintenance requirements and operating costs over the system’s lifetime.

“Australia is one of the world’s most demanding rooftop solar markets, with intense solar irradiance, challenging rooftop installation conditions, frequent hailstorms and a rapid shift towards integrated solar-plus-storage solutions,” said Daniel Li, Vice President of JA’s East Asia and South Pacific Region.

“HyperGen Pro was developed with these conditions in mind, combining a lighter design, enhanced hail resistance and reliable performance in high temperatures. Together with DeepBlue 5.0 and JA ESS, we can provide Australian customers with a comprehensive portfolio of solar and storage solutions rather than a standalone product.”
