Gamesa Electric has published a new white paper, “Cooling Systems for Utility-Scale Solar and Storage Inverters”, offering a comprehensive analysis of the latest advances in thermal management for power electronics. This publication addresses the growing need for robust and efficient cooling solutions as renewable energy projects expand into more demanding climates and higher power densities.

The white paper explores the evolution of cooling technologies, comparing traditional air and liquid cooling methods, and introduces CoolBrid,  Gamesa Electric’s advanced hybrid cooling system developed for its Proteus inverter series. CoolBrid combines the high performance of active liquid cooling with the simplicity and cost optimization of forced-air ventilation, resulting in superior reliability, efficiency, and ease of maintenance.

"Hybrid cooling systems are now at the forefront of inverter technology, allowing us to maximize performance and reliability even in extreme environments," said Andrés Agudo, Chief Technology Officer at Gamesa Electric. "With CoolBrid, we have leveraged over 25 years of experience to deliver a solution that not only extends the lifespan of critical components but also ensures our customers achieve the highest possible yields in their solar and storage projects."

The white paper details real-world performance data, demonstrating how CoolBrid maintains optimal operating temperatures during both extreme heat and rapid load changes. It also highlights future trends in thermal management, including the integration of AI-driven controls and new materials for even greater efficiency.
