Konstanz, Germany – July 16, 2026 – ISC Konstanz has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Dr. Gerhard Mathiak as Head of its Module Department. Bringing more than two decades of experience in photovoltaic research, industrial technology development, module reliability, and international standardization, he will play a key role in expanding ISC Konstanz's activities in module technologies and industrial collaboration.
Following the departure of Andreas Halm at the end of 2025, leadership of the department had been shared on an interim basis by Dr. Kristian Peter and Tobias Meßmer. ISC Konstanz would like to thank both colleagues for their outstanding commitment during this transition.
Dr. Mathiak joins ISC Konstanz after holding leading positions at DEWA Research & Development Center in Dubai, TÜV Rheinland, Q-Cells and Evergreen Solar. Throughout his career he has led international R&D programs, supported industrial technology transfer, developed advanced reliability testing methods and contributed to international IEC standardization activities.

ISC Konstanz has significantly expanded its research infrastructure over the past year through new laboratories and state-of-the-art equipment. Building on this foundation, the institute aims to strengthen industrial partnerships even further through collaborative R&D projects, manufacturing ramp-up support, module reliability programs and technology transfer activities alongside its publicly funded research.
